			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Antioxidants are all the rage today and, justifiably so. Believe it or not, antioxidants can help neutralize free radicals which can cause cell damage. Blueberries are the most popular antioxidant today. Not only are blueberries one of the most popular antioxidants today, but so is pomegranate and cranberry. Even though we have embraced blueberries, cranberries, and pomegranates as the latest antioxidant craze, we&#8217;ve ignored some very important antioxidant foods that are probably sitting in our cabinets right now. The small red bean is a great antioxidant replacement for blueberries, cranberries, and pomegranates. </p>
<p>Why do we need to eat foods that are found to be naturally high in antioxidants? Scientists have found that the body forms unstable oxygen molecules, called free radicals; every cell produces tens of thousands of them each day. </p>
<p>An atom with an odd number of electrons in its outer ring is known as a free radical. Because of the odd number of electrons, free radicals indiscriminately pick up electrons from other atoms, which in turn causes that atom to turn into a secondary free radical, thus setting a chain reaction off inside the body. Because of the biological damage that free radicals cause, they are very bad. There are also many kinds of free radicals, which we are exposed to everyday, for example, pollution, radiation, cigarette smoke and herbicides. </p>
